We chose the Pastamania Florence pasta-making class because of its excellent reviews and affordable price. Plus, the cooking studioâs locationânear the Ponte Santa Trinita in Oltrarnoâwas easy to reach from our Florence base, Casa di Chiara.
We loved getting our hands dusty with flour and kneading the perfect pasta dough. Then came the fun part: rolling out the pasta with a rolling pin and shaping three different kindsâtagliatelle, ravioli, and tortelli.
We also learned how to cook a rich, homemade pomarola (Tuscan tomato sauce) to pair with our pasta. Once everything was ready, we sat down to enjoy the delicious meal we had prepared, accompanied by organic Tuscan wine from the ownerâs family farm.
The experience ended on a sweet note with dessert and a shot of limoncello, making this Florence pasta class a memorable and tasty highlight of our trip. We even received a recipe booklet so we can recreate the dishes at home!
After the class, we took a leisurely stroll around Oltrarno to shop for unique souvenirs.

Lorenzo is the best!
"We participated in the Cooking Art Brunelleschi on a Wednesday afternoon. We had 17 people in our group and our teacher was Lorenzo. He was very knowledgeable and had a positive attitude towards everyone. With his help we made 3 different kinds of fresh pasta shapes. Because he was attentive and had very clear explanations, everyone succeeded in making beautiful fresh pasta. Lorenzo then gave us a masterclass in making three different sauces to match the pasta we had prepared. At the end of the cooking course we enjoyed our pasta paired with unlimited wine. Overall a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. The whole experience took about 2.5 hours. Special thanks to Lorenzo for making it so great."

Best experience of the trip
"Stefano and Mariella were fantastic hosts--they were informative and knowledgeable, and welcomed us at the market with big smiles, even though we were 20 minutes late due to traffic. We toured the market and were able to learn a great deal about it, as well as observing the quality of the fresh foods.
We then were escorted to their home and guided through the preparation of 4 dishes, plus receiving a tour of their back yard and herb garden. To top it off, we then were able to share the meal we had prepared and have a nice visit with them in their outdoor gazebo, learning a great deal about culture, family and food.
It was the highlight of a two week trip to Italy. Wonderful."
